Families ask me about cost more than almost anything else, so here’s an honest look at what a Vizsla puppy costs in Texas, what you’re paying for, and what to budget for after your pup comes home.

What does a Vizsla puppy cost from a Texas breeder?

Our AKC Vizsla puppies are priced between $2,200 and $2,800. Across Texas you’ll generally find well-bred, AKC-registered Vizsla puppies in a similar range, with some show or field-champion pairings priced higher. If you see a Vizsla advertised for a few hundred dollars, be cautious — it may not be registered, may not be purebred, or may not have had the care a young puppy needs.

Why do Vizsla puppy prices vary?

A few things shape the price of any litter:

• The parents. Sires and dams from proven hunting, field-trial or show lines cost more to own, keep and care for.
• Registration. AKC registration documents your puppy’s parentage, which matters if you care about temperament, drive and type.
• Early care. Wormings, first vaccinations, tail docking and dewclaw removal all happen before a puppy goes home.
• Time and attention. Raising a litter well means weeks of daily feeding, cleaning, handling and socializing.

What’s included with a Rock’n Roz puppy?

Every puppy we raise goes home AKC registered, with its tail docked and dewclaws removed, and current on wormings with its first vaccinations. How does the deposit work?

We ask for a $300 deposit to reserve a puppy. The deposit is non-refundable and is applied to the overall cost of your puppy, so it isn’t an extra fee — it simply holds your pup while the litter grows. What should you budget for the first year?

The purchase price is only the start. Here’s what most new Vizsla owners should plan for in year one:

• Vet care. Finishing the puppy vaccine series, a wellness exam, heartworm and flea and tick prevention, and spay or neuter when your vet recommends it.
• Food. Vizslas are active, lean dogs, and a quality puppy food is one of the best investments you can make.
• Gear. A crate, collar and leash, bowls, a bed you don’t mind being chewed, and plenty of durable toys.
• Training. A puppy class is a great way to build good habits and socialize your pup.
• Fencing. If your yard isn’t fully secure, budget to fix it. Vizslas are fast and curious.

Costs vary widely by area, so ask your local vet for a quote on the puppy series before pick-up day. It’s far easier to plan for these expenses in advance than to be surprised by them in the first busy weeks.

Is a cheaper puppy a better deal?

Rarely. A puppy that hasn’t been wormed or vaccinated, or that came from parents nobody can document, can end up costing far more in vet bills and heartache. When you compare prices, compare what’s included, whether you can meet the parents, and whether the breeder will still pick up the phone after your pup goes home.
